In Memoriam: Ken McFarlan
Picture
We are saddened at the loss of one of NCCB's charter members, Ken McFarlan. Ken was a longtime music educator in Oak Harbor and Sandusky and, after retirement, mentored many directors and students to help them improve their musical gifts. He was an adjudicator for large ensemble contests as well as solo and ensemble contests.

Ken loved playing in the NCCB where his talents on the clarinet and, more recently, the bass clarinet, made us a better ensemble. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great teacher and musician.  Ken was a wonderful human being who had an influence and impact on many lives.

2027 KENNETH MCFARLAN SCHOLARSHIP - To honor Ken's contributions to music education and to young musicians, NCCB is creating a scholarship in Ken's name that will be awarded in the Spring of 2027. If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, send your contribution to the North Coast Concert Band, 216 Old State Road, Norwalk OH 44857. The North Coast Concert Band is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Mr. Kustec taught for 36 years at St. Mary's Central Catholic High School and Perkins High School, both in Sandusky, retiring in 2015.
